Say hello to Sam Shrew. He is made of Paper Mache and is approximately 15 cm tall x 8 cm wide x 11 cm from front to back and weighs 100 grammes.
Sam likes to do things in style. He has put more cream and strawberries on this cake than he really should have done and is now struggling to carry it safely to the table. Careful now Sam; that could topple any moment!
Sam is lovingly made out of Paper Mache clay, but his creation takes many hours to complete and involves seven processes along with drying time. Firstly I make a strong wire armature, then pad it out with cardboard and tin foil which is then covered in masking tape. The paper mache clay is applied in layers waiting for each one to dry before applying the next. This is then followed by an undercoat, then the scupture is painted with acrylic paints before a coat of varnish is applied. His string of sausages is individually made and glued on afterwards.
Like all my Paper Mache Pals he is a one-off.
Sam would love to find a new and loving home. He is quite delicate, so cannot be treated as a toy and should be handled with care, but he would love to be a display piece.
