The harbour wall in Lyme Regis or "Cobb" as it is known locally is famous not only for it's appearance in Jane Austen's "Persuasion" and Jon Fowles' "The French Lieutenant's Woman", but also because it forms part of one of the prettiest harbours on the south coast of England. I have of course given this scene more of a twist than it has in reality, but the beautiful beach, quaint buildings, and little fishing boats will be familiar and much loved by those who know this lovely little Dorset town.!
